Pinterest Tab Comes to Chrome
Of all the second-tier social networks, many believe that Pinterest is the one with the most potential.
The company is positioned at the intersection of art and commerce, and it is slowly finding way to become more intertwined with the lives of its users.
A good example of this is a new Google Chrome Extension called Pinterest Tab launched last week that really showcases the visual experience that the social network is capable of.
When the extension is installed, users will see images from Pinterest appear when a new Chrome tab is loaded, overlaid with weather information and Google calendar.
The idea for the extension was developed at an Pinterest Makeathon, where employees work on projects they may not otherwise have time for. The high-resolution images seem to come from the a handful of elite brands on Pinterest including some of its sponsors such as Artsy, 500px, and National Geographic's Your Shot.
