Power Down on August 27th

Posted on 8.24.2009

Citrix Systems (makers of popular online services such as GoTo Meeting, GoTo Assist and GoTo Webinar) announced today along with HP, Intel and Microsoft that they are encouraging energy conservation in the government and industry through the second annual Power IT Down Day initiative scheduled for August 27.

From the release: “Power IT Down Day will reduce unnecessary power usage by getting individuals to commit to turn off their computers, monitors and printers when they leave the office on August 27, instead of allowing them to sit idle. Last year over 2,800 individuals participated in the effort, saving over 37,000 kilowatt hours of energy.”

If you’re interested in participating in this year’s Power IT Down and saving some energy, register at www.hp.com/go/poweritdown.com. You will receive reminders to power down your IT equipment and have access to valuable information about energy conservation and the industry solutions that support a green government.
