Product Showcase: Monoslideshow

Posted on 10.14.2009

There are hundreds of options for displaying images on your website in a slideshow fashion (check out the CrossSlide jQuery plugin) but sometimes you need a little more control and for that you'll need to turn to a commercially available script to really get the design magic necessary to impress your visitors.

Monoslideshow is one of these options and it's an immensely elegant was to display images and videos in a web page. Since this is a flash solution, it looks amazing and provides for a lot more features than could be done with generic slideshows.

There are over 500 possible options that can be customized and has some really interesting transition effects (like the "Ken Burns" effect) and even the option to include captions.

Since what you are creating is a single .SWF file, there's no need to recompile or edit the slideshow in the Flash IDE. All you will need instead is the information that is read from a .XML file. You can even specify a Flickr RSS feed to load photos from.

The cost of Monoslideshow is a bit steep at just over $40 US but since you can use it on any website you want it should be able to pay for itself rather quickly.
