PSD to Wordpress Theme in a Few Simple Steps

How to create your own custom Wordpress-editable version of your website in 7 steps.

This quick method allows you to convert your design into the most basic Wordpress theme, which you can then use to edit all your pages in a WYSIWG editor and eliminate the chance of screwing up your design when you make edits. While this is the most simple way to convert your site into a CMS, it's just the beginning to what you can do!

  1. Cut out your PSD design and build a regular website page from it in HTML/CSS.

  2. Install Wordpress on your server

  3. Copy the default theme fold in wp-content/themes and name it something you'll remember

  4. Edit the file, page.php, in this new folder, and paste in all the HTML from the page you just built. In the area where you want your page title and content to go, paste in the following code that was already in the page.php file. This will generate the page content:
