QUICK HIT: Keep Personal Info Out of WhoIs

Isn't it time you put your privacy front and center?

Domain registration and hosting provider NameCheap  announced that it will be providing a free WhoisGuard subscription on nearly all new domain purchases and renewals in an effort to help its customers protect privacy and increase security.

With WhoisGuard, personal information for domains registered is blocked from appearing in public records and listings, as WhoisGuard shields this personal data from the world, so the Whois database will only display generic contact information for a website.

“At Namecheap we respect everyone’s right to keep their personal information protected, and it is our strong belief that online privacy should be universal and equally available for all Internet users, ” said Richard Kirkendall, Namecheap CEO. “That’s why we decided to make WhoisGuard privacy protection free forever for our customers.”
