Re-Engineering E-Commerce for Mobile
Small-business e-commerce solution 3dcart has re-engineered its template engine to be more "mobile-friendly" and is releasing more than 100 new templates for its 17,000 online stores globally.
This is the largest change to 3dcart's template system since it launched in 1997, and should help position the e-commerce platform to take better advantage of the increasing levels of digital activity on mobile devices by end-users in the years to come.
The updates to 3dcart’s template system allows Internet retailers to create responsive sites using some modern front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery.
3dcart is also making available more than 100 responsive and mobile-friendly themes created by independent designers and by 3dcart itself. The themes, which 3dcart claims come with the latest standards for SEO and usability, will be made available to all online stores via the 3dcart control panel or their Theme Marketplace.
“We’re at the point where more searches are taking place on mobile devices than on desktops, and the update to our platform will help online retailers to meet Google and Bing mobile-friendly standards,” said Jimmy Rodriquez, Chief Operations Officer at 3dcart. “This is part of even bigger changes to come with our version 7 release later this year, which will set a new milestone in the history of our company.”
