Reduce Cart Abandonment with QR Codes

Internet retailers with mobile presences are struggling with all sorts of issues - from user security associated with lost usernames and passwords to cart abandonment (which at last count is consistently over 60 percent). Is there anything e-commerce merchants can do?

There are numerous theories about why carts are abandoned, but one of the most common is that the purchasing process is too long and/or complicated. A new app by the name of hopes to eliminate the issue with a more simplified approach to payments.

Using an individual’s mobile phone and QR codes, the system creates a unique fingerprint that identifies their mobile phone (useful in eliminating some security concerns around user login and forgotten passwords as well). On the merchant side specifically, claims that using the technology can decrease ‘payment friction’ at online checkout, increasing revenues by at least 20 percent through the reduction in shopping cart abandonment.
