Reduce Online Shopping Frustration with Accurate Shipping Costs

Posted on 8.10.2014

Google introduced a new shipping configuration tool designed to help merchants show accurate "total" prices to online shoppers.

The tool provides merchants with an opportunity to configure shipping rules, differentiate between various shipping methods (ground vs. express), customize shipping costs based on location, and indicate when product's don't ship to certain areas.

Google has also added a new "shipping attribute" that enables sellers to assign a shipping label to specific products (shipping rates can be configured based on this label). Google suggested that merchants could "apply a label like “perishable” or “bulky” to a group of products requiring special shipping rates or a label specific for promotional items. After adding this attribute to a group of items, you may manage or configure the custom rate in shipping settings in Merchant Center."

Current shipping setting have already been migrated to the new tool and won't require any update on the part of merchants/sellers.
