Safe Content "Poaching"

Posted on 3.07.2007
Thomas McMahon has an interesting post on how to successfully re-post others content on your own site. While not really "poaching", it's common practice for many to follow these simple strategies to develop compelling content for their own sites:

- Share your thoughts about other peoples blog posts
- Expand upon what others are saying
- Summarize what others are saying
- Time travel and evaluate others archived content

These are for the most part all pretty similar but the concept of critiquing the current and popular posts of others inarguably provides real value because it enables readers to identify what's wrong or right (or what could be better) with certain ideas and forces you, your message and your company to be top of mind and on an almost equal footing with those that created the content in the first place.
