Responsive Email Support Arrives for Google's Gmail & Inbox

Posted on 9.14.2016

Email marketers released a collective sigh of relief yesterday as Google revealed that later this month, Gmail will be able to support emails created with responsive design.

Designers will be able to use CSS media queries with Gmail and Inbox by Gmail to make sure messages are formatted as they were intended.

Responsive designed emails will make it possible for senders to rearrange and resize content (text, links, buttons, etc), ensuring everything looks appropriate based on the device being used to view it - whether that's a desktop, a tablet or a mobile phone - regardless of its width, rotation or resolution.

Google did provide some documentation for developers which outlines full list of supported CSS rules. If you're sending any email consider it a must-read.
