Retarget Customers Through Sound
With the mobile ad market forecasted to be worth more than $76 billion in 2018 it’s no surprise that companies are looking to break into the market.
SilverPush, a cross-platform advertising company, has announced the launch of a unique ad retargeting technology that uses sound to identify consumers. You got that right, sound.
The retargeting process starts with a cookie being dropped onto the consumer's browser. Once the cookie is placed, the speakers are then used as audio beacons to play an inaudible sound which is actually a code. When a mobile device is within range to hear the sound it then creates an immediate association between the desktop cookie and itself.
The advertising company has filed multiple patents on their technology and boasts a client list that includes Samsung, Google and Domino’s.
“Cross-platform and mobile advertising have emerged as the most important forms of advertising in the digital marketing age. SilverPush is right at the cutting edge,” said Hitesh Chawla, co-founder of SilverPush. “We realized that cross-device identification of users is the Holy Grail of advertising. But all the existing solutions were limited in accuracy and scale. There had to be a way to figure out better matching at scale. We came up with an idea of using ultrasonic audio to achieve that. The technology works by having one of the devices act as audio beacon, analogous to iBeacon technology and the other as the audio receiver.”
