The Imminent Rise Of "Blogola"
Is the Web moving from pay per click to pay per write? We've reviewed PayPerPost in the past but there's soon to be a new kid on the block in ReviewMe. What makes it different (or will make it when its available) is that those that write about products or services will have to disclose posts that advertiser/sponsors paid to have created from those that were not. While the imminent rise of "blogola/payola" of this type might concern some - it's appealing to both advertisers and publisher/bloggers as everybody including the user will benefit (advertiser gets exposure, publisher gets paid, user gets an honest review).
The ReviewMe blog cites a July
Multilingual Search article noting survey results blog service provider
HotLink regarding how 66% of Japanese
bloggers would write product/service reviews for rewards (products and/or money)
if they receive no pressure to write good reviews from the company. 28.2%
answered that they would write the reviews even if they are pressured to write
only the good reviews.
