SBOs, Millennials Celebrate Their Independence [Infographic]
There's nothing that makes a person feel more independent than professional success.
Small business owners (SBOs) are feeling especially independent these days, as Manta, the largest online community dedicated to SBOs, reveals 68 percent of them reported the first half of 2014 to be a successful period for their business, up 12 percent from this time last year. Similarly, 83 percent of small business owners reported they are optimistic about business prospects looking ahead to the second half of the year.
Despite being the punchline in many jokes, Millennials are also earning their professional independence. Seventy-six percent of Millennials reported having a successful first half of 2014, which was higher than any other generation. Moreover, Millennials made more hires this year (44 percent) than any other generation and expect to make the most hires (52 percent) during the next six months.
They're also feeling particularly positive, as 90 percent of Millennials revealed they are optimistic about business prospects for the remainder of the year.
“Though a challenging undertaking, there are invaluable rewards that come with being an entrepreneur. Millennials are demonstrating they’re a new driving force behind the small business community,” said John Swanciger, CEO, Manta. “It’s no longer assumed that recent graduates will enter the traditional workforce. Companies will have to adjust as Millennials become a bigger force in the small business space.”
