Scoutmob Deals Come to FourSquare
FourSquare has added another third-party deals platform in ScoutMob to its location-based social networking service. Scoutmob joins LivingSocial and Groupon and will be active in all Scoutmob supported cities.
What makes Scoutmob unique is that their deals require no advanced purchase. Scoutmob users (and now FourSquare users) are able to simply present the deal to merchants and redeem the coupon – which often amount ot 50% or more.
Scoutmob has already registered more than 800,000 customers in their cities where they are based including New York, Boston, DC, Chicago, Nashville, Dallas, Austin, Denver, Seattle, Portland, San Franciscoand Los Angelesand others.
“From day one, we’ve been utilizing a user’s location as a form of currency,” said Michael Tavani, co-founder of Scoutmob in a press release. “That has allowed us to flip the traditional ‘pay upfront’ deal model on its head. Our thought is that locals should impulsively explore their cities; having to pay upfront for a deal doesn’t really allow that behavior. We’ve always been good at driving people to unique local merchants around each city, and now Foursquare will enhance the Scoutmob experience through their tips and location-based social features.”
