Sell to the Globe with Ecwid and Wix

Posted on 6.25.2013

Internet professionals have a new option for adding an e-commerce storefront to their Wix website, because the popular website builder has teamed up with social commerce provider Ecwid to offer a commerce app in the Wix App Market.

The Ecwid app can be embedded into any site, is available in 45 languages and integrates with all major payment platforms. Plus, Wix website owners can place their Ecwid store onto any page, which allows their customers to shop and buy products without leaving the site. In addition, the Ecwid app has the ability to grow with merchants as they expand their business. In fact, merchants have the ability to choose from two different packages – Basic and Premium.

“Most users want to evaluate and understand the product first, so we give them a free version – not a free trial – but a free version that they can use,” said Jim O’Hara, president of Ecwid. “When the time is right they can upgrade to premium.”

It is also important to note that the partnership brings commerce to merchants around the globe, as Wix has more than 35 million users worldwide and Ecwid is leveraged by more than 300,000 merchants in 175 countries. According to Eric Mason, director of communications at Wix, this is part of the reason why the partnership is so great.

“I think that the robustness of their international offering and the fact that we have an international userbase, those two things have really married together well,” said Mason.

Other features of the app include the ability for merchants to add Ecwid to their Facebook page and mobile site, as well as the availability of order management tools, real-time shipping rates and the ability to integrate with comparison shopping networks.

“Ecwid offers a simple to use yet full-featured online store that blends seamlessly into any Wix website, which makes it a perfect fit for our users and the Wix App Market,” says David Schwartz, senior director of the Wix App Market. “We already offer several e-commerce solutions but are committed to providing our users with diverse and best-in-market solutions. Our users need tools to boost their online sales and Ecwid’s hassle-free stores perfectly match that.”
