SEO in 30 Minutes a Day – Link Building
:: By Travis Bliffen, Stellar SEO::
For the past couple of years people having been crying “link building is dead” or some variation of that title and in all honesty, they still do because people click on and read those articles.
Once you get a few lines into most of the articles, you realize link building is in fact not dead. Even Matt Cutts chimed in on links to mention that if Google did not consider links, the results would be much worse than they are today.
Today we are going to talk about some ways you can build quality links to your website spending just 30 minutes per day working on it. As you may know, link building is an ongoing process and you should regularly be working to gain new inbound links. Here are a few methods to get you started.
Links from your profile on a forum are not going to rank your site. What they will do is send targeted visitors to your website. Pick 2-3 forums or G+ communities and spend a few minutes on each of them a couple times per week. If you offer value and actively engage with other users, you will start to see referral traffic pretty quickly.
Outreach Link Building
Outreach link building includes several tactics but the end goal is to connect with a person and get them to link back to your website. If you are new to this completely, you can start by talking with your suppliers. If they have websites and a blog, they may be more than happy to give you a boost as it ultimately helps their sales. Once you have reached out to suppliers and other companies you already have a relationship with, you can use email, social, and even make a few phone calls to related but non-competing businesses and work to find a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Submission Link Building
There are a ton of places you can submit some information and get a back link to your website. As with forums, these may not be the most powerful links, but they can be beneficial overall. Here are some examples:
- Local Business Directories
- Niche Specific Directories
- Portfolio Sites
- Local Organizations
There are tons of other places you can submit your site to. Your niche and location will determine the specifics, so just keep your eyes open in your area and you should be able to find plenty of opportunity.
Link Earning/Natural Links
Theoretically you should be able to post great content related to your industry and that will translate into higher rankings and more traffic to your website. In actuality, you need to promote yourself before others are going to start promoting you as well. Working to build an email list or social following is a good way to build a base of people that may promote and link to your business.
As I mentioned above, it is very important to consistently earn new links to your website if you want to generate more traffic. The methods above do not require a great deal of expertise, you simply need to commit a little time each day and not be afraid to network with other websites.
