Significant Audience Growth for Podcasters on Android
There appears to be a significant increase* in the consumption of podcasts on Android devices according to a recent analysis from Blubrry.
While Blubrry attributes the growth to applications that support its one-click Subscribe feature for Android, the fact that Google added podcasts to the Play Store in April might also have something to do with the rise. Either way, it's good news for podcasters and those that believe in the efficacy of the medium to engage users.
“Global listener volume is continuing to increase across all platforms,” Blubrry CEO Todd Cochrane explained. “It is very apparent to our month-to-month, year-to-year data that Android is making significant gains in the global podcast ecosphere.”
* Global statistics data from April 2016 comprises a sampling of more than 40,000 shows and over 100 million listener downloads and on-demand podcast plays. The totals do not include Blubrry’s enterprise clients such as ESPN or ABC, nor do they include media buyers that utilize enterprise solutions for measuring their podcast advertising campaigns.
