Site-of-the-Day: UnSplash

Posted on 3.03.2015

It's a problem faced by every 'Net professional - finding quality images to use on their website.

You could, of course, spend hundreds of dollars (if not thousands on an annual basis) purchasing images from stock image sites including Shutterstock, Getty Images, iStockphoto, Fotolia or Bigstock Photo, but those services can quickly become costly if you're using many images or have multiple users. Are there any alternatives? Why yes there are; check out Unsplash.

All photos published on Unsplash are licensed under Creative Commons Zero which means you can copy, modify, distribute and use the photos for free, including commercial purposes, without asking permission from or providing attribution to the photographer or Unsplash. There are several examples of photos distributed at UnSplash in the wild that have been used in advertisements and on websites

Website Magazine has covered Unsplash (and other free image resources) in the past, but it's always good to revisit the best of the Web on occasion, right?

As a 'Net professional, what free resources can you not live without?
