Site Search for Magento Stores

Posted on 7.29.2014

Site search is fast becoming an essential component of well-rounded e-commerce destinations on the 'Net.

While most, if not all, online retail solutions offer some basic search functionality to enable users to find products, software solutions are emerging that can take the experience of on-site search to an entirely new (and arguably better) level.

Enterprise tech company Thanx Media for example, announced that its Hawk Search site search solution is making its way to Magento. The plugin replaces the Magento built-in Catalog Search functionality, and is capable of delivering far more personalized results for an optimized customer experience.

The plugin automatically creates data feeds for Magento sites (freeing up valuable IT and programming time) and site administrators can control which attributes are included or excluded from the data feed. They can even control how the search results are styled within the Magento user interface.

“Today’s e-commerce technology landscape can be complicated to manage,” said Paul Matker, Thanx Media CEO. “Solutions like the Hawk Search Magento Plugin go a long way toward simplifying system integration and ongoing maintenance, allowing businesses to focus on more important strategic initiatives to grow their online presence.”

The plugin is currently supported for both the Community and Enterprise versions of the Magento e-commerce platform and is available for free to Hawk Search clients.
