Social’s Impact on E-Commerce [Infographic]
A new infographic from application delivery platform Instart Logic is shedding light on the impact social can have on e-commerce, revealing that 4 in 10 social media users have purchased an item after sharing or "favoriting" it on a social network.
Additional data shows that 85 percent of all social media orders come from Facebook and that 71 percent of consumers are more likely to make a purchase based on social media referrals. What’s more, it seems as if advertisers are starting to realize the potential of social commerce, as advertisers worldwide spent $23.68 billion on paid media in 2015, which is a 33.5 percent increase from 2014. This number is also expected to grow, with social network ad spend forecasted to reach $35.98 billion in 2017.
Because of the impact social can have on an e-commerce business, it is important that merchants make sure that all pages of their website are optimized. This is because social is driving consumers directly to product pages, and slow pages or poor experiences often result in lost revenue.
