Sophia Makes Content 'Shoppable'

The name Sophia will now mean more to publishers and retailers than just their favorite character on the Golden Girls.

Sophia – of the digital variety – recently developed a platform called Ambiance, which has the potential to change the way consumers shop online.

Various publishers have already started using the platform to match content with retail products and services. This contextually aware AI solution takes the content users are looking at and gives them products they want to buy. The e-commerce widget sits alongside publisher content to showcase relevant products of interest to readers while they browse.

By making content 'shoppable', according to Sophia, it provides an alternative revenue stream for publishers, and because the products complement the nearby content, readers are likely to be more engaged leading to improved site stickiness and increased loyalty. For retailers, they can showcase their products free.

Sophia reports its Ambiance platform can deliver up 10 times the industry standard on conversion rates for other digital ads.
