Speed is of the Essence with Content Delivery Networks; So Is Quality

In the pursuit of a faster digital experience, the smartest enterprises know they most maintain focus on service quality.

Limelight Networks, for example, a longtime player in the content delivery network space, announced that while it managed to deliver record online traffic in December 2017 (a 21 percent increase over its previous record set the prior month, and a 23 percent increase from December 2016) the company claims that its focus on service quality has resulted in an historic low number of trouble tickets.

In addition (and arguably more importantly) with system-wide software and infrastructure upgrades, Limelight servers are now delivering record traffic per server. Compared to December last year, for example, Limelight delivered over 20 percent more traffic, using 5 percent fewer servers; the higher service quality resulted in almost 50 percent fewer customer incidents.

“We’re very pleased with the multidimensional improvements in our performance, functionality and efficiency. Those improvements were the underpinning of our success in efficiently serving record-breaking traffic,” said Dan Carney, Senior Vice President of Operations at Limelight. “Given our global reach, connectivity, secure and private interconnection, and connectivity to last mile providers, we’re more than a Content Delivery Network. Our capabilities are introducing us to new opportunities in the edge computing space. We look forward to continuing to serve our customers who trust Limelight to solve increasingly challenging business problems.”
