Thanks Content Marketing! Writers Have Jobs!

Posted on 4.16.2015

Organic reach/traffic is becoming more difficult to come by on both social media networks and the search engines - and the jobs which are being created for digital professionals reflect this downward trend.'s Fast 50 for Q1 2015 indicates that general jobs around the execution of social media marketing (up 8 percent at 4,650) and social networking (up 5 percent at 5,262 jobs) are rising slowly, but at a slower pace compared to previous quarters. Consequently, enterprises are turning to longer forms of content marketing to increase engagement and drive organic traffic through SEO.

Jobs centering around creating longer-form content has increased this quarter, including eBooks (up 43 percent to 1,943 jobs), creative writing (up 41 percent to 1,877 jobs), content writing (up nearly 26 percent to 7650 jobs) and ghostwriting (up 23 percent to 8,514 jobs) are all still growing at a rapid pace.

Similarly, copywriting, for emails, campaigns and websites, is also on the rise (up 15 percent to 10,418 jobs). staffers thinks this shows a balance between practical copy to drive actions and longer, more engaging copy is needed. Finally, to round it all out, people are hiring more freelance proofreaders, rising up 20 percent.
