The Big Mac Switch - WM Net Briefs

For years, Forrester Research has advocated that “Windows is the only desktop” needed by IT departments, largely because “Macs pose too many problems.” However, recently Forrester has changed its tune and now openly supports the use of Mac PCs by IT professionals. The claim is that because most companies’ Highly Empowered and Resourceful Operatives (yes, the acronym is HERO) – the 17 percent of workers who use new technology and display more innovative skills – are using Macs en masse, mostly because they say Windows PCs slow them down and look “cheaply made.” So Forrester now says that it is time to take decisive action and enable rather than hinder the HEROs among us by supporting Mac PCs in all IT departments.
