The E-Commerce Solutions Dominating 2015

Posted on 7.28.2015

BuiltWith recently released its e-Commerce usage report for January to July of 2015 and it shows what new commercial and open-source tech solution have gained users, which lost, and who is leading the pack.

The Top 10 e-commerce solutions for the entire Internet are WooCommerce with 910,398 domains (growing a whopping 37 percent in the first six months of the year and adding 247,000 new domains), OpenCart with 277,553 domains, Magento with 242,539 domains, PrestaShop with 207,477 domains, Shopify with 116,339 domains, Zen Cart with 109,068 domains, Weebly eCommerce with 104,777 domains, VirtueMart with 89,057 domains, osCommerce with 79,522 domains, and BigCommerce with 55,915 domains.

BuiltWith, which indexes and analyzes some 328 million domains, also revealed the solution which experienced the biggest drop - Magento Go. The offering was shut down in February 2015 and experienced a stunning drop off in usage of 92 percent. Many migrated to Magento CE, of course, but many others may likely have left Magento for good and headed for alternative solutions like WooCommerce, Shopify and others.
