A recent report by Visible Measures finds the future of online video advertisements to be bright, as long as current trends continue. The company revealed that social video ads were viewed over 1.3 billion times in the first quarter of 2012, a 78-percent increase over the fourth quarter of 2011. That figure also represents a 40-percent jump from the first quarter of last year, so it’s a significant increase any way you look at it. The most popular type of online video ads are humor, which received over 489 million views, with celebrity ads and activist- related videos coming in second and third place, respectively.
