The State of Desktop Searches

Posted on 6.29.2015

Search engines are some of the most visited sites on the planet and as the Internet continues to grow and new domains are added, search engines will continue to play a crucial role in users' Internet experience.

comScore, a digital media analytics company, has recently released its May 2015 comScore qSearch analysis of U.S. desktop searches.

According to comScore’s analysis, the month of May nearly mirrored April, at least in search. With only a slight loss in search share (-0.1 percent), Google sites led all search marketplaces with 64.1 percent of the search share. Other changes, while also slight, include an uptick of search share for Microsoft sites (up 0.1 percent) as well as for AOL sites (up 0.1 percent).

In the same vein, comScore reported that the total number of search queries performed in the month of May was 18.2 billion, slightly less than the previous month which saw 18.4 billion.
