The Week in Domains: Dot Feedback

Posted on 1.21.2016

New generic top-level domain .Feedback entered into general availability this week and the extension could definitely be a contender in the competitive domain name space and could prove appealing to brands for a few reasons.

Not only is the .Feedback extension being priced rather competitively (less than $30 at many of the registrars we checked with including NameCheap) but every domain comes with a free feedback platform. The available features are somewhat basic (limited to submissions, voting and sharing capabilities, and some basic metrics) at this point, but it's the novelty having a ready-made feedback platform that will likely be most attractive to brands.

Another interesting aspect of .Feedback is that the registry has a policy that all registered domains need to resolve to a webpage that takes feedback. That should eliminate domain squatting as well as the scourge of inactive websites.

Sales of the .Feedback extension have been somewhat slow this week. The Sunrise and Early access program netted .Feedback some 14,000 registrations - but only a few hundreds registrations over the past four days (that will likely change as more registrars come on board with the registry).
