To Fear or Not to Fear AI?
Narrative Science, a provider of advanced natural language generation for enterprises, has announced the release of the 2015 State of Artificial Intelligence & Big Data in the Enterprise Report.
Revealing how all levels of employees, from executive leadership to data scientists and managers, view artificial intelligence (AI) and how they incorporate the technology with big data in their companies, Narrative Science found that 80 percent of respondents reported that AI-powered technologies create jobs and improve worker performance and efficiency. Also interestingly, 59 percent of companies that use AI and big data technologies together consider themselves to be “highly effective” at turning data into information that can solve problems.
Other interesting findings from the report include 58 percent of respondents using big data technologies are also leveraging AI as well as 49 percent of companies that use both technologies for automated communication.
“This finding stands in sharp contrast to sensational headlines reporting that AI is a force that could lead to a doomsday scenario,” said Stuart Frankel, Narrative Science co-founder and CEO. “The survey shows that people understand that AI doesn’t harm people or steal jobs, it turns technology into a true partner; empowering employees to be more productive, creative and better at what they do.”
