#TransformationThursday - Single Sign-On, Responsive & More

Posted on 4.01.2015

With nearly half of Internet users citing a website's design as the number one factor in deciding the credibility of a business, brands of all sizes are wise to re-evaluate their site's look and function.

Software development firm Devbridge Group just announced the completion of a website redesign for Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), a global association of financial professionals - and there are some lessons to be had for other 'Net professionals.

For starters, MDRT's membership is recognized internationally for those in the life insurance and financial services business, which created the need for a professional, personalized online presence, which reflected that standard. The tiered nature of its membership also posed unique design challenges as it required specific user roles and permissions based on membership level, and MDRT also needed a cloud-deployed solution that would scale along with its growth.

The solution is hosted on Microsoft Azure Cloud and is developed around responsive design. The redesign includes single sign-on between four MDRT sites and member profile pages that are specific to each member.

“One of the biggest challenges, I think, is the single sign-on we needed,” said Wayne Schmeiser, director of emerging media at MDRT. “We have several websites across different platforms made by different developers and we were looking for a way to easily transfer users from one site to another. Devbridge took a lot of time on our behalf looking for the perfect solution that would be able to address those needs. And that was really important to us and the member experience.”

Internet professionals considering a redesign of their own websites should check out MDRT's before-and-after shots below. The transformation is certainly sleeker, with a more modern aesthetic. It's also easier to navigate for MDRT’s 42,000 members. (Note: To zoom in, click on the images)
