Tumblr 10 Billion Strong - 'Net Briefs
Tumblr, the Internet’s leading microblogging website, reached its 10 billionth post in early September, a major milestone for a site that, at almost the same time last year, had just hit 1 billion posts. In the early part of 2011, Tumblr even surpassed WordPress in both pageviews and revenues, despite having fewer bloggers and visitors. This seems to be pointing towards an obvious, growing trend in so-called “light” blogging, with Tumblr in full control of the market. So far, major media companies such as NPR, the New Yorker, Rolling Stone and many others have set up Tumblr blogs to grow their audiences, engage readers and drive traffic back to their website’s original content.
