Tumblr Does the Two-Step
Tumblr is increasing security, as the company has just introduced two-factor authentication for its microblogging social network.
The security feature helps to prevent accounts from being hacked and is already offered by many of the Web’s top platforms, including Google, Twitter and Facebook. The feature requires users to enter their password as well as a single-use verification code, which is either sent via text or generated by an authenticator app, in order to access their Tumblr dashboard. It is important to note, however, that the feature is optional, and users need to enable two-step authentication under the ‘Settings’ page to make their accounts more secure.
