It makes a great deal of sense to pay attention to those technology companies that receive patents because it indicates not only who's leading in the realm of innovation, but what solutions available to you are on the cusp of improving in a meaningful and significant way.

UserReplay, for example, was just awarded a patent for its invention of a method for recording and recreating a user journey on a website. The method utilizes an auditing system to capture and report an interactive client journey between a Web-browser and a website by capturing and implying real-time interactions between the user, the Web-browser on the computing device and the Web-server. UserReplay’s auditing system captures data allowing an analyzer to use it to visually recreate the user session and analyze what transpired during the user session. What UserReplay has done essentially is to find a new way to harness, analyze and recreate better scenarios with this data.

“This technology is more cost efficient and accurate than traditional ways of assessing website operation and enables companies to identify barriers to conversions in real time, resulting in potentially millions of dollars in additional revenue,”said UserReplay CEO, John Thompson. “This makes it a mission critical solution for retailers, eCommerce, financial service and travel & leisure companies looking to find revenue that they have already earned but is yet unrecognized, due to sub-optimal online customer experiences.”

In addition to the new patent, UserReplay recently launched a new machine learning solution to detect segments of users where customer experience should be optimized. It does this by detecting and learning the complex behavioral signatures of customers having a sub-optimal experience, and automatically understands the size of the segment and the aggregate value of the revenue opportunity.
