Vocus Adds Email Marketing with iContact Acquisition
Cloud-based marketing and PR software provider Vocus has acquired iContact, which is an email and social marketing provider used by more than 70,000 organizations.
The $169 million acquisition will allow Vocus to add email to the company’s digital marketing suite for small and mid-sized businesses. The suite already includes search marketing, social marketing and publicity modules that are centered around a recommendation engine. The recommendation engine suggests tips to help users attract customers through search marketing, buzz generation and visibility in the media, as well as engage with customers and launch campaigns on Facebook and Twitter.
“The Vocus marketing suite is one of the most comprehensive digital marketing solutions for small and mid-sized businesses,” says Rick Rudman, president and CEO of Vocus. “It combines elements of search marketing, social media and publicity to enable users to reach and influence potential customers in today’s online world. Now it will include email, which is a vital component of a digital marketing suite. Our customers will be very excited to have a complete cloud marketing suite to help them grow their businesses.”
iContact's email marketing software allows small and mid-sized businesses to create and send professional email campaigns. The email platform is also integrated with Facebook and Twitter, which allows users to reach new customers and generate sales through word-of-mouth buzz.
Currently, Vocus and iContact customers won’t experience a change in the products and services that they are using. However, once the iContact integration is complete, customers will have the option of continuing to use a stand-alone product or upgrading to the integrated marketing suite that includes email, social, search and publicity marketing.
