The Tax Man Cometh: Mozu Keeps Enterprises Compliant

Posted on 2.18.2014

E-commerce solutions provider Mozu is helping its enterprise-level clients stay compliant with sales tax thanks to a new integration with Avalara.

In the beginning of 2014, Volusion introduced a new multi-tenant SaaS platform dubbed Mozu, which is designed to meet the growing needs of mid-market to enterprise retailers. One of the platform’s first integrations is with Avalara’s AvaTax solution, which aims to remove the complexity of sales tax compliance for Mozu retailers by automatically calculating sales tax directly at the point of transaction, as well as minimizing audit risks. It is important to note, however, that this integration is just one of many enhancements and extensions that will eventually be added to the Mozu platform.

“Partnering with an innovative company like Avalara speaks to our commitment of ensuring the Mozu platform delivers the most intuitive and powerful tools to our clients,” said Clay Olivier, CEO, Volusion, Inc. “This integration is the first of several extensions that delivers on Mozu’s mission to deliver truly limitless commerce.”

The AvaTax integration comes built-in to Mozu, which extends the commerce platform’s capabilities. In addition to tracking tax rates in more than 11,300 jurisdictions across the U.S., Avalara also helps manage exemption certificates, file returns and remit payments through the cloud.

“Manually managing sales tax is difficult, expensive and time consuming - and businesses can face stiff penalties if they don’t get it right,” said Pascal Van Dooren, EVP of sales and marketing at Avalara. “Avalara’s SaaS offering makes sales tax compliance simple and automatic for thousands of customers every day, and we look forward to doing the same for Mozu customers. In today’s electronic world it just doesn’t make sense to manually manage sales tax.”
