Watching the Small Business Vote
All year, Manta has polled small business owners (SBOs) to get an understanding of how they plan to vote this upcoming presidential election as well as how they anticipate each candidate will help or hurt their case as an SBO.
According to Manta’s latest presidential poll, Donald Trump continues to lead the small business vote.
Here are some highlights from Manta’s September poll, which surveyed 1,426 small business owners:
• Among the two major-party candidates, 40 percent of small business owners think Trump is the best candidate for small business while 24 percent favor Hillary Clinton. Another 35 percent remain undecided – the same percentage from the August poll.
• Third-party candidates unlikely to sway votes: Last month’s poll indicated that Hillary lost votes to third-party candidates, but the most recent poll shows that SMB voters are sticking with Trump and Hillary, with less than three percent supporting Jill Stein or Gary Johnson.
• Thirty-three percent are registered Republicans while 25 percent are registered Democrats. A significant 42 percent identify as “other.”
