Website Magazine Editorial Guidelines

Website Magazine welcomes article submissions. We suggest that you contact an editor through the online support form if you would like to submit something to the magazine or website, but below are some basic editorial guidelines:

•    All articles must be original works written specifically for Website Magazine

•    Articles should be written for Website Magazine’s audience of website professionals, ranging from novice to advanced levels

•    Articles should follow the Associated Press style and include headlines and subheads

•    Length of articles should be between 800 words and 2,000 words, unless indicated otherwise

•    Contact information for anyone quoted in an article should be provided to editors

•    Include individual titles and company names for anyone quoted in an article

•    Statistical reports and/or source information for any statistics included in an article should be provided to editors; credit sources within the text of the article

•    Articles may not promote products or companies beyond standard editorial practice; advertisements and advertorials will not be published

•    Include only one space after a period

•    Spell out the complete term for an acronym on the first use, followed by the acronym in parentheses; then use the acronym throughout the rest of the article

•    Suggestions for art and photography are appreciated

•    Include an author bio (45-word maximum) at the end of each article

•    Assigned articles are due by 5 p.m. Central time on the day of the deadline

•    Editors reserve the right to make revisions to the article and to ask for clarification if necessary

•    Run spell check before submitting an article

•    Submit articles as Microsoft Word or Text files

•    website (one word, lowercase w)

•    e-commerce

•    meta data (two words)

•    percent (spell out; % is used in parenthetical references only)

•    Yahoo!

•    craigslist (one word, lowercase c)

•    sitemap (one word)

•    wireframe (one word)

•    Do not include www. for common websites
