Website Magazine, Twitter and TwitterFeed

Posted on 4.01.2009

We've received a lot of feedback from Website Magazine Twitter followers about how we use that service. Some really like it. Others, well not so much.

Website Magazine has used Twitter as a platform and not neccesarily as a means of communication with the micro-blogosphere. We tied our regular Weblog feed to Twitterfeed, a service that posts RSS content automatically to Twitter. The problem recently has been that, despite when we post content on our Weblog, all the content is dumped into Twitter at the same time. We realize that's not the most user-friendly way for our followers to leverage Twitter so we're changing things up a bit. While our "hands-off" approach has served us well (1700 followers), the process could be greatly improved.

Website Magazine will now use Twitter in a more "traditional" manner - to post messages as we publish content, as it happens. We'll also be making an extended and serious effort to listen to the conversations and communications that are occurring on the Twitter network.
