Welcome to the Pinterest Shop
Pinterest is rolling out some social commerce updates, including Buyable Pins for Android devices and its very own “Shop.”
Buyable Pins enable users to purchase products directly from the Pinterest newsfeed. Although the feature was launched in June and made available on iOS devices shortly after, Buyable Pins have not been available on Android devices until now. According to Pinterest, there are more than 60 million Buyable Pins to choose from, and now Android users will be able to make purchases from the social network without leaving the Pinterest app.
To leverage the feature, users simply need to look for Pins with a blue price tag and then tap “buy it” to check out. After a user enters his or her information, Pinterest saves it to streamline the checkout process in the future. The social network also notes that its checkout is simple and secure, as Pinterest reviews and approves every seller on its platform.
In addition to Buyable Pins on Android, Pinterest revealed a brand new shop. The Pinterest Shop, which will be rolled out over the next couple of weeks, showcases buyable products on the social network. Users can visit the shop every day to view new collections hand-picked by the Pinterest staff. The shop will feature products from big brands like Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom as well as from small boutiques like The Citizenry and Heist. To find the shop on mobile devices, iOS and Android users can tap the explore icon and then select “shop.”
