What Makes For An Awesome E-Commerce Website?

Posted on 7.26.2015

It's not an easy answer; one person's perfectly "awesome" website is for another a digital fixer-upper.

Outdoor retailer Moosejaw just re-launched a new version of its e-commerce site, incorporating numerous new features and functionality, and moved to a responsive design as well. The popular online retailer is calling its new site "awesome" - but is it?

Much like other retailers today, Moosejaw has previously been forced to apply responsive techniques to an existing desktop design. The new site, however, was built with responsive in mind from the ground up and the popular outdoor retailer is already seeing some positive effects of making the switch.

In fact, Moosejaw reported seeing mobile conversion rates improve dramatically - over 50 percent - since the rollout.

Responsive design alone can't or won't make an awesome website, however, as powerful technology must also be in place. And Moosejaw isn't letting its users down in this regard.

The site incorporates a number of leading solutions including IBM Websphere Commerce Search (offering up new category-specific filtering options), True Fit (personalized fit recommendations), Bazaarvoice and Yottaa's adaptive CDN to optimize content delivery.
