Where Can I Get .SEX?

Posted on 9.01.2015

XXX and Porn have been around for quite some time.

There's a new domain extension, however, that is sure to capture the attention and investment of trademark holders and branding professionals.

ICM Registry, the registry operator for .XXX, .PORN and .ADULT top level domains, announced that its .SEX sunrise phase (for trademark owners only) has begun and will continue until Oct. 1, 2015.

The official TMCH Sunrise phase is only for those trademark owners who have previously registered their marks with the Trademark Clearinghouse. If you're not yet in the TMCH, don't sweat it: there just so happens to be a separate priority phase for .XXX holders. Anyone can participate by purchasing a .XXX domain (at registrars offering the extension) before Oct. 1 and participating in the .SEX Domain Matching program.

The XXX name extension can be considered somewhat popular with just over 100,000 total domains currently (according to data from RegistrarStats.com). .Porn and .Adult have not fared as well, though, with just 11,900 and 8850 domain names registered respectively.

So will you acquire a .SEX domain name extension? And have you ever purchased a .XXX, .PORN, .ADULT domain name to protect your brand?
