Where Users Click in Google Local Carousel
The release of the Local Carousel by Google is raising several interesting questions among the search marketing community – namely, where users are clicking in the new layout.
New research from Denver-based Internet Marketing Company Ethical SEO Consulting reveals that a preponderance of the 120 respondents clicked the map (there were shown the image below), followed by the 1st slider image, and then the 1st organic listing.
Ethical SEO Consulting suggested that location prominence is still going to outweigh everything else when it comes to the Google Carousel. The firm suggested a few action steps in light of the research including having “great reviews” and having a long tail keyword site content strategy which would position a website in as many carousels and maps results as possible.
