Who’s Who in Predictive Analytics

Numerous (very powerful) solutions exist to help enterprises of any size take advantage of predictive analytics.  But what is predictive analytics and who's who in this fast moving and highly dynamic landscape? 

Predictive analytics is all about extracting information from raw data and using the data to predict trends and behavior patterns. Thanks to faster CPU speeds, cheaper memory and better architecture and technology in general (e.g., in-memory databases, Hadoop, MapReduce) it is now easier than ever to collect, process and analyze incredible amounts of structured and unstructured data.

There are different types of solution offerings for those interested in exploring predictive analytics. There are open source and freeware tools, proprietary systems, and software APIs  for example and each (when used independently on in conjunction with one another) is capable of delivering insights into data regardless of what specific enterprise demands exist.
