Will 'Net Retailers Jump in the Amazon Stream?

Posted on 5.31.2015

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Amazon adores Pinterest and is making it (and the whole Web world) known.

Amazon has quietly released its own take on the "endless product stream" (pinboard) concept with a feature that enables shoppers to save and store items that catch their attention. Users are able to save items to a personal Amazon wishlist (although it will be separate from their main or primary wishlist) but cannot make their own product submissions.

The new Amazon Stream service, which shows products from in its Sponsored Products program exclusively, will likely be quite appealing to advertisers as they will be be able to tap into a veritable treasure trove of user behavioral data that can be used for targeting shoppers (putting it in direct competition with Pinterest in the process).

As an e-commerce merchant and Internet retailer, is the Amazon Stream something your enterprise would jump into? Take a look and share your comment below.
