Will Web Retailers Buy the .SHOP?
GMO Registry, the official registry operator for the new .SHOP domain extension, announced that the new top-level domain (nTLD) option has generated over $2 million dollars in revenue and close to 2,000 registrations just halfway through its Early Access Program (EAP).
Will its success continue when general availability begins on September 26?
The .SHOP extension has been open to trademark holders since June 30 and received applications from just 1,200 trademark holders during that sunrise phase. In the opinion of many Web professionals, that doesn't not bode well for the extension's future.
