Hi everybody and welcome to the first in what we at Website Magazine hope will be a long and successful video series highlighting what's happening on the 'Net each day. I'm Pete Prestipino, Editor-in-Chief of Website Magazine and here are the posts and stories trending today January 2nd, 2014.
Our first post of the new year will appeal to both e-commerce merchants and Wordpress users as we've highlighted a few of the most popular shopping cart plugins. While Wordpress certainly isn't designed as a solution for Internet retailers, those plugins we've featured provide for a very robust e-commerce offering and are definitely worth a look.
Starting the new year often means brushing up on some code lessons and many will find there's no better way to expedite that digital re-education than through the use of frameworks. Today we've dug into Google Trends to see which PHP frameworks were top of mind with designers and developers in 2013 which should serve as a great introduction for those looking to excel in the new year.
Big data will definitely be on the mind of Internet professionals this year and without a doubt they'll be turning to tools such as Tableau software who in early November released a new version of their platform. Today we take a look at some of the more interesting features of that release and ask whether now is the time to give Tableau a go.
This is of course the time of year when we're all making resolutions and our own associate editor Allison Howen has written up a few that might make sense for Internet professionals. The best part? She's provided a few mobile applications to help you stay on track and make sure this is your best professional year yet.
Our final item on the site today is a great new plugin we've just come across from Zurb, the makers of responsive front-end framework Foundation. The Pizza Pie Chart is a responsive pie chart that looks exceptional on Web and mobile devices (tablets too) because it's based on the SNap SVG framework from Adobe. Very easy to integrate and definitely something to check out.
That's all for today but don't forget, make sure you're subscribed to Website Magazine so you can get 12 print issues each year covering all you need to know to ensure your 'Net success. Thanks and don't forget to tune in tomorrow to Website Magazine's Daily Video Series.
