Hi everybody and welcome to Website Magazine's daily video series. I'm Pete Prestipino, Editor-in-Chief and here are the posts and stories trending today January 3rd, 2014.

Our first post covered some recently released research from GlobalWebIndex which examined the different age profiles or age groups of social network users. The data could prove very important for advertisers as budgets tend to be dedicated to the channels, platforms and networks whose users have more disposable income - and to pretty much no one's surprise, that's probably not going to be Tumblr.

Social is likely to experience a real evolution in 2014 and one of the ways that is going to happen is that social platforms will be integrated directly into business processes. Tibbr, for example, has released a new feature that will enable its enterprise users to publish actual content pages, creating a way for every employee within an organization to become a publisher and distributor of information.

As social media continues to grow it will continue to receive investment. Case in point, social relationship platform Spredfast announced it has raised 32.5 million dollars in funding led by Lead Edge Capital, which has funded well-known software, e-commerce and Internet companies including Alibaba Group, Marketo, Bazaarvoice, Refinery29 and Monetate.

Companies are clearly thinking social will be the way to go in the future, but they haven't exactly left the mobile trend behind. Shopify for example has introduced an overhaul of its iOS app Shopify Mobile, which includes several new features to help merchants increase sales including order notifications, greater control over fulfillment and inventory management, as well as the ability to work with Shopify's point of sale. A terrific improvement on the whole and definitely something for e-commerce merchants to take a look at.

Website Magazine's feature article in our weekly Hot Trends email newsletter is from Richard Pasewark, CEO of Visible Technologies. Rich provides some practical guidance on how to use social media as a big data opportunity and offers some advice on how to create a solution that provides clear and measurable outcomes.

That's all for today but don't forget, make sure you're subscribed to Website Magazine so you too can get 12 print issues each year covering all you need to know to ensure your 'Net success. Thanks and don't forget to tune in next week to Website Magazine's Daily Video Series.
