With the Web accessible to more people than ever before (largely due to Internet-enabled mobile devices), many brands are beginning to wonder if it's time to take a more global presence when it comes to their digital properties.
Although all online brands are essentially global brands (thanks to the visibility that the Web provides), not all U.S. companies cater to non-English-speaking visitors. In a survey of more than 3,000 global consumers across 10 countries (Brazil, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Russia, Spain and Turkey), independent research firm Common Sense Advisory (CSA Research) found that 75 percent of consumers prefer to buy products in their native language. In addition, 60 percent rarely or never buy from English-only websites.
