Working the Local Angle: Net Briefs

Posted on 6.29.2012

Google is — some would say finally — putting its acquisition of restaurant guide publisher Zagat to good use. Google+ recently added a local feature that enables users to discover and share information about nearby establishments, Zagat scores and reviews included. The new feature also incorporates reviews from users’ friends, and displays business information such as addresses and hours of operation. The system currently contains more than 35,000 reviews, and while Google+ doesn’t have the user base that Facebook does, this new feature will offer businesses a chance to significantly increase their visibility online.

Not content with local, social and mobile dominance, Google recently revamped its shopping engine, too. Get the details in WM’s Google Shopping Primer for Modern Merchants.
