Yammering Down - 'Net Briefs (October 2012)
Enterprise social network Yammer, a recent Microsoft acquisition, unveiled an update that features integration with third-party apps (including HootSuite), messaging improvements and a home-page redesign. The integrations allow for outside extensions and the ability to pin different feeds into Yammer, giving users a single-dashboard environment for multiple feeds. The HootSuite integration, in particular, allows users to have conversations without leaving the HootSuite dashboard — to talk internally about information being shared on public platforms (e.g. Twitter). To counter the increased message volumes that will come from combining feeds, Yammer is also adding “Inbox,” which aggregates mentions, group announcements, private messages and conversations (which can be ranked by importance) and lets users filter and prioritize their messages.
